Halloween special: your 5 worst period stories

Spécial Halloween : vos 5 pires histoires de règles

At Elia, we asked you in our community about your worst period stories... and here are some of the embarrassing situations and menstrual galleys some of you have experienced. Hang on, here are five testimonials that will give you the chills this Halloween season!

1. The tampon of fear

One of our customers, Chloé, shared an experience at work that sticks in her mind. "I was super nervous about presenting a project at work in front of an auditorium. Imagine the stress! Of course, I had my period, and as if that wasn't enough, my tampon hadn't gone in properly. I had to stand for two hours, except that it was going down minute by minute! ULTRA DESAGREABLE" She recounts that it was impossible for her to go to the bathroom for the whole of that morning, which made the situation even more untenable. "I had to wait painfully until the end of the presentation to run and change him, it was really agonizing, I swear!"

2. The naughty but bloody witch

Halloween is all about dressing up, but for Laura, it took an unexpected turn. She'd chosen a naughty witch costume (you know the one...), but hadn't realized that her sanitary towel was sticking way out of her onesie. "I couldn't believe I was in full view of everyone haha! My mates started laughing, and I realized I had the pad sticking out... Anyway, I quickly went and put a long skirt over it (luckily the party was at my place!)".

3. Crush & stain

Sophie tells us about her date mishaps: "I was super excited to go out with my crush tonight! He lent me his jacket (ecru) because it was chilly. Unfortunately, my period had decided to invite itself that day (obviously). As I sat down on a bench, I got carried away by the conversation, and hadn't noticed that I was sitting on the bottom of his jacket. When I got up, panic on board: there was a stain on it... I acted nonchalantly, returning the jacket and saying 'Thank you, it was perfect! Since that day, I've never dared talk about that evening with him again, and I don't know if he ever realized it. Every time I see him, I remember that little catastrophe. It's amazing how quickly a nice moment can turn into an embarrassing situation, but hey, at least it makes for a good anecdote!"'

4. The abundant flow roadtrip

Sabrina had the misfortune to go on a roadtrip ill-equipped: "A few years ago, I decided to go on a road trip with some friends. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of my period, and I have a very heavy flow. We stopped at a rest area for a picnic. I chose to sit on the hood of the car to eat my ham and butter. What an idea! When I got up, I realized I'd left a beautiful red footprint on the car! My buddy joked that he was going to have a work of modern art on his hood... Anyway they called me Capot Rouge for the whole stay!!!"

5. Upside-down panties

Finally, Claire recounts how she almost had a big galley King Dagobert-style. "I had put my menstrual panties on backwards without even realizing it. Luckily, I realized pretty quickly, but it was stressful by the time I got to work (I've got an hour-and-a-half commute)!" She explains that she discovered that the anti-leak fabric works both ways (we confirm!), which is a good point. But the absorbent, blocked by the anti-leak fabric on top, couldn't fulfill its role, so the situation didn't have to last too long! "Fortunately, I was able to change quickly (I had an extra one in my bag!). A moment of panic, but in the end, she pulled through!

These menstrual mishaps remind us just how important it is to manage (even anticipate?) your period well! And what if these mishaps had never happened with menstrual panties? Thanks to their comfort and practicality, they could save you a lot of hassle! So, next time, think of Elia for peace of mind
